The GBU-54(V)/B by Boeing is the Laser JDAM variant of the GBU-38(V)/B 500 lb. class JDAM. It consists of a GBU-38(V)/B bomb fitted with a DSU-38/B laser homing target detection device.
That is why they look similar, one can easily distinguish one from the other, because the GBU-54 has a connector that connects the DSU-38 / B with the tail assembly.
• MK 82: Standard 500 lb. LDGP (Low-Drag General Purpose) bomb
• BLU-111/B: Instead of the MK 82, the BLU-111/B warhead can also be used in the GBU-38/B series JDAMs. The BLU-111/B is externally identical to the MK 82, but uses the PBXN-109 thermally insensitive explosive
This model was built by interpreting photographs and images available on the internet and therefore its dimensions and details are not exact.
I make these models as a hobby and any comment is welcomed.
