The M118 was an air-dropped general-purpose bomb that dates back to the Korean War. It was a weapon for the first and second generation of high performance jet fighter and attack aircraft. It had an aerodynamic design to produce lower drag when carried externally. During the Vietnam War, the weapon was used to explosively clear helicopter landing zones in jungle terrain.
