Tis is the first variant of the GBU-15 to be developed by Rockwell International.
The TV seeker can be used in daylight only.
This version has large delta rear and forward wings
It is an unpowered glide weapon used to destroy high-value enemy targets. The weapon consists of modular components that are attached to an all purpose Mark 84 bomb only.
In 1985 was introduced an improved variant (GBU-15(V)2/B)
with imaging infrared optical seeker to be used in low ligth situations and on targets partially obscured by smoke or clouds.
